MUTTS Comics, an internationally syndicated comic strip (created in 1994) and ecommerce brand that advocates for animals.

While at MUTTS, I was responsible for all editing and management of all brand, marketing, product design, and development. This included creative direction and strategy for all digital including the website and e-commerce store, social media, and email as well as product design and development (both digital and physical goods). In addition to the marketing and brand management, I styled and photographed all product to create content for web, social media, and email marketing. I also project managed all website maintenance, a migration, and redesign. Below is a selection of my work and projects.

MUTTS 25th Anniversary

Developed concept for MUTTS 25th anniversary logo and artwork styles to be used for various promotional products, email marketing, social medial content, etc.

Social Media

Produced, styled, and photographed all product content for social media as well as managed all social media and communities for the brand including Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Results:

  • Oversaw 173% increase in Instagram account popularity/followers

  • Oversaw 60%+ increase in Facebook page popularity/page likes

  • Oversaw 58% increase in Pinterest account popularity/followers

  • Oversaw 110% increase in Twitter account popularity/followers

The Gift of Nothing Day

The Gift of Nothing Day was created from Patrick McDonnell's first children's book, New York Times bestseller The Gift of Nothing (published in 2005 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers). First there was a book, then a play, and now a day!

The Gift of Nothing Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday after Christmas. It's a day to spend time with loved ones who already have "everything" or want "nothing" for the holidays, and it was inspired by the bestselling children's book "The Gift of Nothing" by Patrick McDonnell.

We created a Facebook page to help spread the word, allow participants to share stories and videos, and connect with schools and teachers on ways they’re using the book and A Gift of Nothing Day to teach and share with students in their classrooms.

Results: 24,000+ Facebook Followers

MUTTS Website Migration and Ecommerce Redesign

Led and project managed the migration and redesign of the entire MUTTS website from Drupal to Wordpress/WooCommerce (including almost 9,000 comic strip prints and other products), restructured the navigation, implemented a product bundling strategy

MUTTS Social Prints Shop

Led a project to restructure a former print shop on the ecommerce store and reintroduce popular social media content as art print products; with new social media content/designs being added weekly, these prints became fresh new content and products in the ecommerce store regularly as well.

Managed the design and development of a new filtering function to allow users to find prints based on different attributes such as the date it was posted to social media, specific characters, seasons, holidays, etc.

Managed the design and development of user interface allowing customers to get any of the prints framed or printed on canvas

MUTTS Personalized Comic Strip Print Product

Developed the concept for the Personalized MUTTS Comic Strip Print product allowing customers to preview and order a MUTTS comic strip print that is customized with names,, locations, relationships, and/or pronouns information; with the intention of new comic strips to be added on a semi-regular basis as needed to accommodate holidays or specific themes

Project managed the technical design and development of the digital to art product; led the marketing of the product via email and social channel

Results: Became a top selling product on MUTTS.com

MUTTS Knowledge Database

Developed and populated a knowledge database within Zendesk as part of the MUTTS website FAQ’s to address popular questions and provide additional information allowing customers to self-serve when possible and reduce customer service requests via Live Chat and email.

MUTTS Email Marketing

Managed all aspects of email marketing for a list of almost 60K subscribers including planning for daily emails, monthly/quarterly newsletters, and strategy for promotional emails as well as project management, and providing creative and art direction for graphic designer and copywriter; created content for many product related emails through product styling and photography
